Publisher's Attempt to re-'brand' The Washington Post, Ethical Mis-step

In an attempt to re-brand a slipping media giant, Katharine Weymouth, grand-daughter of iconic Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham, offers salon meetings among politicians, lobbyists and reporters in her own home -- for a fee.

Adds to the conversation about balancing journalistic ethics with the reality of surviving in the market-driven media world.

  1. And the White House is already "commenting" on the Washington Post plan. Below is a quote from the article:

"The president’s press secretary, Robert Gibbs, has already obliged by wondering aloud at a news conference whether he could afford to take a question from Michael Shear, a Post reporter."

"Funny stuff, unless you are the reporter with your hand up."
