I find the debate over when and when not to "touch up" one's poor grammatical skills an interesting quandary. It seems that to "protect" one's blunders, or language shortfalls does potentially change the entire tone of the story. Who you interview, is as much of the story as what they say. To change even one word seems almost to be "spin". I do wonder though, about pronunciations. When George W. Bush said "nucular" and really meant "nuclear" as in war, it seems that journalists "touched up" that one a bit.
